DETAILS

On Thursday, July 24, join us at Navy Pier for our third annual Disabling Ableism panel—a powerful and thought-provoking conversation on identity, inclusion, and challenging assumptions around ability. Inspired by The Simple Good Founder & CEO Priya Shah, this panel was created to foster meaningful dialogue about how perceptions of ability can shape—and often limit—our understanding of what’s possible. Through storytelling and shared experiences, we are reminded that each of us holds the power to create good and drive change in our communities. Held in recognition of National Disability Independence Day, this event honors the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990 - a landmark civil rights law that continues to require stronger awareness and enforcement today. In that spirit, this year’s panel brings together Chicago leaders with diverse abilities to share their lived experiences and perspectives on building a more inclusive, empathetic, and equitable world. Panelists: 🗣️ Reggie McFly, Artist 🗣️Dr. Nina Addison, The You Can Specialist 🗣️ Diana Gomez, Navy Pier 🗣️ Yare Tua, Digital Creator/Influencer 📢 Moderator: Khaliah Marsh of BUILD Chicago Opening remarks by Priya Shah, Founder & CEO of The Simple Good Bites and refreshments will be provided. 📍How to Get to the Venue: Please head to the People's Energy Welcome Pavilion at 500 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60611. Please note the Pavilion is located before the main entrance of Navy Pier, located in Polk Bros Park. It's next to the fountain and performance lawn. You'll see the distinctive glass Pavilion building as you enter. For the easiest navigation, enter People's Energy Welcome Pavilion or 500 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60611 into your GPS. If arriving by car, follow signs to the West Entrance / Polk Bros Park. If using rideshare or public transportation, we recommend being dropped off at the West Entrance of Navy Pier (Polk Bros Park) for the closest access to the venue.
